Smells Like Team Spirit
Recreativo FC were formed during summer 2003 from a loveable hotchpotch of North London football fanatics, social outcasts, and general waifs and strays, who have been playing football together for many a year in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington. We've had hundreds of people (dis)grace our pitch over the years as we've organised matches on a ' whoever turns up gets a game' basis. Men, women, tons of kids, and of course many a dog! (Jack Russell's are the Gianfranco Zola's of the species, and are by far the most skillful!)
We've been involved in staging the annual Clissold Cup/Looney Left 7-aside Tournament which is now into it's 7th year. The competition has been host to some of London's finest rabble rousing teams - The Rowdies, Hackney's Hardest, Dynamo Semtex, Class War, Sons Of Emil, Stockwell Diablos, International Bastards, to name but a few.
'Ave It!
September 2003 saw us enter an 11 aside mob into Division 2 of The Super Sunday Super League. We're always busy planning tactics, practicing our goal celebrations, arguing about the latest beautiful football boot on the market, who's wearing what... We've had many a discussion about the season's latest hairstyles - To wear or not to wear an alice band? To have a mohican, or opt for two little pony tails? Or do we go with the flow and let it all hang out.... like our bellies! You'll find us in Clissold Park every week when we haven't got a league game. We always welcome new faces for a kickabout.
